Brandon Beh’s journey to Lincoln University began with a vision to travel from Cameroon to the United States in pursuit of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. What started as an academic pursuit quickly evolved into a transformative experience defined by resilience, leadership, and personal growth.
Arriving at Lincoln, Brandon set out not only to excel academically but also to challenge himself personally. Determined to move beyond his quiet nature, he embraced opportunities that pushed him outside of his comfort zone. That commitment led to an impressive academic path, pursuing a double major in Biochemistry and Chemistry, along with double minors in Bioinformatics and Computer Science.
His dedication to research emerged early. During his freshman year, Brandon secured a competitive summer internship an opportunity he once thought was out of reach and was invited to return each subsequent summer. His work expanded across toxicology, chemistry, and bioinformatics, resulting in presentations at science fairs and national conferences, including the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE). His efforts earned multiple accolades, including six first-place awards and several additional honors.
Beyond the lab, Brandon remained deeply committed to service and leadership within the Lincoln community. He supported fellow students as a tutor in the Math Learning Center and as a member of the A-Team, later serving as a Health and Wellness Ambassador. His leadership and impact were recognized when he was named the 2024–2025 Man of the Year. Brandon also contributed to campus life through mentorship and advocacy. As a Community Advisor and international student mentor, he provided guidance to students navigating experiences similar to his own. His involvement in student leadership included serving as Community Chair in both the 77th and 78th Student Senates within the Student Government Association. A dedicated student-athlete, Brandon was an active member of the Track and Cross Country teams throughout his time at Lincoln, ultimately competing in his senior year. His leadership extended across organizations, serving as Vice President of the African Student Association and President of the Rho Psi Chapter of the TriBeta Biological Honor Society, while also representing the university on the HCASC Trivia Team.
Guided by his parents’ emphasis on becoming a well-rounded individual, Brandon explored interests beyond the sciences. His creative pursuits led to recognition in the Guy A. Sims Short Fiction Competition and publication in SIMBAA Magazine.
As he prepares for the next chapter, Brandon will continue his journey at Stanford University, where he will participate in a competitive summer research program to further develop his skills in the healthcare field. Reflecting on his time at Lincoln, Brandon's story is one of growth, purpose, and legacy. His journey embodies the spirit of the Lion rooted in both his Cameroonian heritage and the Lincoln University tradition leaving a lasting impact on the campus community and beyond.
